Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we list top bookish things.

Author lovin’ fail!

TTT1 TTT2 TTT3 TTT4 TTT5

  • Colleen Hoover: I read Hopeless maybe a year or so ago, and I loved it so hard and immediately bought all of her other books (at the time), but I still haven’t read any of them. I know I would love them too just by the reviews and my feelings towards this one. #FailIsMe
  • V.E. Schwab/Victoria Schwab: I reeeeeallly want to read the Archived by Schwab, and even more so ever since I read this one and saw how much of an incredible writer she is. Dude! I even swore in my review I was going to read the Archived next! Oops.
  • Patrick Ness: While I know his Chaos Walking series is very different from this – not even in the same age group – I heard so many things that intrigue me about it. It sounds sooo weird, and I love weird!!
  • Stephanie Perkins: I do believe this series is the author’s only work, but with the influx is 5-star reviews for the last one in the series recently, I was reminded of how much I failed at continuing with this one! A perfect summer romance read!
  • Libba Bray: This is one author where, if someone would ask me to list memorable writing styles that blew me away, Bray would be one of them. I do admit that I read half of A Great and Terrible Beauty but this was like a million years ago and I need to read it for real!

  • John Green: I know, right? Booo! I do own a couple of his books on audio though so I bet he won’t be on this list for much longer >.<
  • James Patterson: I do believe – though don’t quote me on this – that Confessions of a Murder Suspect is the only YAΒ  that he has written, but I really enjoyed the quick flow of the story and the constant mystery/suspense. I think I would be a big fan of his adult stuff, too!
  • Michael Grant: I know that Eve & Adam is one that he co-wrote with his wife, but Michael’s Gone series is one that was recommended to me countless times that I really want to try. I also have Messenger of Fear from BEA that I think will be my next read by him!
  • J. Lynn: And I mean J.Lynn, so only her NA/Adult stuff (I have read a few of her YA so this was the only way to fit her on here :P). Wait for You was maybe a tad clichΓ© but So.Much.Chemistry!! Plus, I saw reviews of her other books, and – *grabby hands*
  • Nova Ren Suma: This author is like a hidden gem. I feel like I don’t see enough notice about her books, and while I have only read 17 & Gone, I can tell you she’s an author to watch out for. I have Imaginary Girls that I was gifted and the reviews for that one are insane! I NEEDZ to make room for it!

Any author lovin’ fails on your part?

Imaginary Girls is amazing: creepy, atmospheric, poetic, writing you just want to savor. It’s one of my favorite books; I hope you like it if you read it!

  2. Nick @ Nick's Book Blog

Colleen Hoover! Yes, you must read all her books! πŸ˜€
I need to try something by Victoria Schawb. I’ve never read anything by her even though I’ve heard so many good things.
I actually like Armentrout’s NA books much better than her YA books. For some reason, her YA books don’t mesh well with me and I wind up feeling like a black sheep because everyone and their grandmother loves her books!

I just wanted to point out that your James Patterson book wasn’t entirely written by him. James Patterson co-authors with multiple authors for several different series, ranging from YA, through mystery, and all the way into Chick Lit. With the different co-authors, comes a huge variety of writing styles as well. You may be a fan of one, while not a fan of others. Best way to see is to test them all out! πŸ˜‰

Out of all of these, I’ve only read A Monster Calls. It’s funny, out of 10 authors, we have none who match. I like that, makes me want to read more authors now!

  5. Mel@thedailyprophecy

I really need to read more from Victoria Schwab too! I’m especially excited about The archived. I’ve read More than This by Patrick Ness and it made me curious to see some of his other work. The Diviners was great, I’m highly anticipating the sequel (if it’s ever published)

  6. Renae @ Respiring Thoughts

PATRICK NESS!!! Ahhh, dude, Giselle. The Chaos Walking books are FANTASTIC. You must must must read them. Also: Vicious was really freaking good! The Archived wasn’t quite as amazing, but still very worthwhile. I did like A Great and Terrible Beauty and its sequels, though I’ve done several re-reads and can never decide on how much I like them, exactly. Nova Ren Suma’s books are pretty good, also! πŸ™‚

  7. Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook

Yep, I totally encourage you to read Perkins’ other two books. They are fantastic, but I do think Anna is my favorite.

I really liked Wait for You by J. Lynn. But the second book is really good (I can’t remember the title). I can’t wait for Stay with Me which comes out in October I think.

  8. Aditi

Great Top 10, Giselle! Haha! I must get myself a James Patterson book (yes. I can’t believe I haven’t read one up till now)

I agree, I started Nova Ren Suma’s The Walls Around Us and it is BRILLIANT! Will definitely be reading more:)

  9. Anatea

I agree for John Green! I own a few of his books, but I only read The Fault in our Stars so far.. oh and JLA! I read her books like crazy last year, and now I have to catch up with the ones that came out this year.

  10. Danielle

I bought The Archived and I still haven’t read it either. Fail.

If you loved Anna and the French Kiss, you’ll love the rest of the series. Hope you get to it soon!

  11. Eileen

Please read The Archived!! Please please please πŸ˜€
I’m right there with you with John Green. I own most of his books but the only one I’ve read is TFiOS haha πŸ™‚

  12. Bonnie @ For the Love of Words

I loved Ness’ Chaos Walking series (I’d highly recommend it in audio). I’ve only read The Fault in Our Stars. And one from Nova Ren Suma too although I’ve read Imaginary Girls which was fantastic. A few of these I STILL need to read so at least you’ve got one up on me. πŸ™‚

  13. Jillyn

I’ve only read TFiOS by John Green too. I loved it, but for whatever reason I haven’t read any other books of his. That needs to change soon.

  14. Liliana @ Lili Lost in a Book

Author lovin’ fail… you are so funny!! LOL

I’ve only read one of JLA/J. Lynn’s books, Half-Blood. So there’s that. I’ve heard a lot of hyper over her YA alien series and I *just* got the e-book when it was free on Amazon (it still might be, I dont know!) so I’ll be checking that out soon!

  15. Dreams

Great list. I didn’t think of a few of them beforehand. Why is it you always thing of some good ones to add to your lists after they’re published?

  16. ShootingStarsMag

I have The Archived, and I need to read it soon. I also really want to read Vicious. In general, I just need to read SOMETHING by this author. haha

I have read all John Green novels, but that wasn’t until this summer that I finished up the ones I hadn’t read. Sometimes you just get sidetracked.

  17. Pili

Stephanie Perkins I can recommend you continue reading cause I loved all three books!
And Jennifer L Armentrout or J Lynn, well she does have such variety of books! I haven’t read her NA yet, but I’ve pretty much loved everything else!

  18. Romi

I LOVED Libba Bray’s Beauty Queens and really would like to read more of her work, though I actually hadn’t been able to get through BQ on three occasions when I tried to read it, it was the audio that got me through, so I think I’ll stick with audio format (especially as I think she reads her satirical novels, like Beauty Queens, and she is a fantastic reader) so long as I can find a copy of one!
